Welcome to Somerset Property Sales

The county of Somerset lies adjacent to 5 other counties and is the gateway to the south west peninsular. The five bordering counties are Bristol, Devon, Dorset, Gloucestershire and Wiltshire. For many years it followed the traditional county naming convention, being referred to as Somersetshire. This usage died out in the 1800’s.

Somerset is predominantly rural, containing both the Somerset Levels and part of Exmoor National Park. It is famous for its cider production and contains the towns of Glastonbury, famous now for its annual music festival, and the well know seaside resort on Weston-Super-Mare.

Taunton is the county town of Somerset and there are two cities, Bath and Wells. The later has been a city since the early 13th century even though it’s population today is still only circa 11,000. In a similar vein, many of the local villages have larger populations than the towns.
